Location: Kent
Time of Year: Spring
Oh, I absolutely loved every minute of this shoot!
It was the first time I took my camera out of my bag in weeks. Coronavirus lockdown made us all adjust to new ways of life, slow down and appreciate what we have. Suddenly everyone had many new responsibilities and limitations as well. So when we finally got the green light as part of the easing process, I welcomed this fresh breath of freedom! I’ve missed taking pictures. I’ve missed open space and nature. I also wanted to spend quality time with my ‘safety bubble’, as we call our close family members these days.

Heading 2
Spring was transitioning into early summer and the colours of crops and wildflowers were vibrant and inviting. We travelled to Kent for the photo shoot as it’s only a short trip from our home, and there are some lovely fields I wanted go use as my background.
The goal was to get out of the house and create a photo shoot that is done in a safe way, respecting self distancing rules.
Everything totally worked:) I managed to have a family session, as I would normally have with my clients, without the need to photograph too close. Of course, I would love to have an option to be more intimate at how I shoot when I need to, but times are different and we need to adjust and make sure we can still deliver beautiful work in a safe environment.
What was different?
The safe distance rules made me approach the session in a slightly different way.
For instance, I chose to have my zoom lens handy in case I wanted to crop in tighter, as to shoot with primary lenses and stay close to my subjects. Being aware of other people around of course was important. Making sure we had more space to freely move around and not be in other people way. Everything else was the same. Capturing moments in a very organic, natural way and having fun doing it! The story from that lovely afternoon is below. Enjoy:)
